Menopause in the workplace

The Lowdown

Women of menopausal age are the fastest growing UK working demographic, yet 25% of women have considered leaving work because of menopause symptoms. This equates to potentially catastrophic effects on economic turnover and long-term impacts on mental health. Recent reforms have recognised that employees experiencing menopausal symptoms are safeguarded under existing provisions of the Equality Act 2010. Employers are therefore obligated to ensure the health, safety and welfare of employees who are experiencing menopausal symptoms

Menopause Training

Workshops and training sessions are a great way to equip and empower both employees and the workplace to navigate and support those going through the menopause transition. In addition, menopause education promotes the message of well-being in the workplace and is a key strategy to attract and retain experienced talent.

In-house training and speaker engagements

Learn over lunch (1 hour session) – an interactive and informal session for all employees to learn about the menopause, symptoms associated with the menopause, and how to support people in the workplace. After completing this session, attendees will have a good overview of the menopause and how best to support colleagues or loved ones transitioning through the menopause.

Leaders and Managers (1 hour session) – learn about the menopause and why it is a business issue. This session will cover the potential impact of menopause on work, legal obligations, how best to support employees going through the menopause, and how to foster an environment that promotes inclusivity and employee retention.

Creating Workplace Menopause Champions (2 hour session) – understand and recognise the signs of menopause and know how best to support your work colleagues. Champions will learn how to have sensitive conversations, be the first point of contact for colleagues struggling with menopausal symptoms and be able to signpost within the organisation and externally.
